In a musical display of epic proportions, the Chorale presents its 62nd season finale in May in celebration of the centennial birthday of a beloved Bay Area legend—one of America’s most prolific and notable choral composers. 100: CELEBRATING KIRKE MECHEM will showcase Bay Area music at its finest, featuring some of the greatest choral and orchestral works written by Mechem. Alongside the full orchestral forces of the San José Chamber Orchestra and singers from Santa Clara University Choirs, this extraordinarily special evening will also bring with it some other special collaborators from the Bay Area and beyond—including RESOUNDING ACHORD, SACRED & PROFANE, and conductors KRISTINA NAKAGAWA, ELIZA RUBENSTEIN, and BARBARA DAY TURNER—to give Kirke a well-deserved birthday party of a lifetime. Amidst the beautiful ambiance of Mission Santa Clara and hundreds of musicians honoring this choral giant, it’s a season finale not to be missed.
