martha & monica is a cello/piano duo in the San Francisco Bay Area performing innovative pairings of great masterworks from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries with seminal modern works. Since 2006 we have presented wide-ranging programming, spanning the major classical and contemporary sonatas by Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, Chopin, and Grieg, as well as Elliott Carter, Benjamin Britten, Galina Ustvolskaya, and Alfred Schnittke, to shorter works by Leos Janacek, Arvo Part, Kaija Saariaho and Nadia Boulanger. We’ve performed all over the area, and have more than fifty years in stage experience, combined! Our programs include something for everyone.
