Katherine Baird, M.M., has been a passionate music educator for over twenty-five years, including ten years as a public and private school classroom music teacher, and over ten years' experience as an organizational leader. In her capacity overseeing and teaching in a large, urban community music school, she became a strong advocate for equity in the arts, wanting high quality music education to be accessible to all students, regardless of income or background.
She has guided brand new beginners through advanced levels (sonata and concerto repertoire), is certified by the Suzuki Association of the Americas to teach all Suzuki cello levels (Books 1-10) and loves teaching all ages and levels, from 3 year-old beginners through advanced teens, and adults at every stage!

I love starting beginners on the cello, and focus on ease of playing, developing one's ear and cultivating good practice habits. I have spent many years of my teaching career studying Alexander Technique, Body Mapping, and Feldenkrais, using the tools I've learned from those modalities to help my students play easier and better. I am committed to ongoing professional development as both a teacher and a performer, and believe the best teachers are continual seekers and learners!
