As a former elementary school teacher I bring knowledge of individual learning styles into my teaching. I think learning anything should be fun. I use board games, whole body movements, and music composition (at the computer) to enhance the direct learning at the piano. I'm a firm believer in teaching a wide range of knowledge about music, not just how to play the piano. Although most of my educational background has been in classical music, I'm interested in all kinds of music and like to have the students help choose the music they want to play in whatever style they are interested in.
We do laid back recitals twice a year and have "playdays" where the children get together by age groups, perform for each other, play music games together, and drum.
I'm a composer as well as a teacher. See my website at www.deephum.com.
