Choral Scholars, Star of the Sea Catholic Church
Level: Professional
Qualifications: Professional singers will generally have 1 or more degrees in music and earn a significant portion of their income through music-related activities
Repertoire: Gregorian chant and polyphonic Masses and motets by Isaac, Lassus, Palestrina, Monteverdi, Scarlatti, Rheinberger, Langlais, and Schoeder.
Special skills:
Ability to sing unaccompanied polyphonic music with as few as one voice per part
Excellent music literacy skills including G, F, and C clefs and transpositions
Familiarity with or willingness to learn modern quadratic chant notation ("square notes")
Knowledge of Roman Catholic liturgy in both the Ordinary and Extraordinary (Traditional Latin) Forms
Fee: $37.50/hr
Average hours per week: 6
Rehearsals: Thursday evenings September–June
Performances: Sundays and solemnities throughout the year
