With hugely destructive wildfires still blazing in and around Los Angeles, several of the city’s premier music organizations have canceled or postponed their scheduled weekend concerts.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Jan. 9, 11, and 12 subscription concerts have been canceled. They were to have featured Sunwook Kim performing Brahms’s Second Piano Concerto and Louis Langrée conducting Robert Schumann’s Fourth Symphony. Tickets will be automatically refunded to the original method of payment.

The orchestra has also canceled a chamber program scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 14, which was to have included the world premiere a new song cycle by composer Nicolás Lell Benavides.

Another Walt Disney Concert Hall event, the Jan. 10 pop concert with composer and multi-instrumentalist Cody Fry and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, has been postponed.

“A new date and additional information will be communicated to ticketholders via email as soon as it is arranged,” the LA Phil said in a statement. “Your tickets for the Jan. 10 concert will be valid for the new date yet to be announced and no action is needed on your part.

“Our hearts are with all the members of our community who are impacted by the fires and our immense gratitude goes out to all the firefighters and first responders who are tirelessly working to protect us,” the statement continued. “Please stay safe.”

Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra has postponed its Baroque concerts scheduled for Jan. 11 at The Wallis in Beverly Hills and Jan. 12 at The Huntington in San Marino. They were to have featured violinist Margaret Batjer and countertenor Reginald Mobley.

“If you already have tickets to either performance, you will be contacted by the box office shortly,” LACO said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by the fires.”

Camerata Pacifica, which is scheduled to perform a mix of Bach and Bach-inspired new music in four Southern California locations beginning Sunday, Jan. 12, was still determining whether and how to proceed on Friday, Jan. 10. The organization has canceled its concert for Tuesday night, Jan. 14, at The Huntington but plans to present the other performances in the series.

In addition, the Sierra Madre Playhouse, which is located within the evacuation zone for the Eaton Fire, has shut down and postponed all of this weekend’s performances.

Looking further ahead, Pasadena Playhouse has canceled two concert productions that were scheduled for later this month at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium: Anything Goes on Jan. 24 and 25 and Follies on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. Producing Artistic Director Danny Feldman said the cancellations were necessary “given the extensive impact of the fires on Playhouse staff, artists, and audiences.

“We are fortunate that our historic building has not sustained any significant damage,” he added. “This was not an easy decision to make, but our theatermakers and staff are currently unable to come together to continue the vital work of creating these monumental productions.”

Ticketholders are asked to “please hang tight, and we will be in touch with you soon regarding your ticket options.”

Update: This article was amended on Monday morning, Jan. 13, to include additional notices of concert cancellations in the Los Angeles area.
