
Can you guess the most-performed work by performing arts organizations in 2015? Here’s a hint: The opening notes of the first movement are short, short, short, loooooong. That’s right. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, according to Bachtrack’s annual summary of 28,000 events listed from around the world on the site.
While also confirming that The Nutcracker was the most-performed ballet in 2015 (hardly surprising), the statistics turned up some interesting facts:
Our very own San Francisco Symphony cracked the top three “Busiest Concert Orchestras,” taking the third position.
In the “Top Living Composers by Event” category, Bay Area-based John Adams took the second spot behind Arvo Part.
Gustavo Dudamel earned the fourth spot in the “Busiest Conductors of 2015” category.
